Dear Parents, Hello! This week in Kindergarten we talked about being saints and about Veteran’s Day. We learned the sound of the letter “H” and used bingo markers to paint a capital and lowercase “H”. We made two books using the word “the”. The children were very excited when I told them that they would have homework. They were to read their books to you, have them signed and return them to me. As each new sight word is introduced a new book will come home to be practiced. The students will receive a sticker or a piece of candy each time they return with their book signed. Then the student may keep the book to collect. In math, we finished up our chapter on sorting and determining “more” and “fewer”. We took a test on these concepts. We will begin graphing on Tuesday. We spent a lot of time learning about maps and the Mississippi River. We will finish these topics next week. The students are getting very excited about the upcoming sleepover scheduled for next Friday. I hope you will all be able to join us for a night of fun. If you aren’t staying over night then maybe you could attend the thank you dinner being served for all who have helped our school. Remember that there is a slip to be returned in order for you and your child to stay over. This way we know how much food etc. will be needed. A reminder, that we are having a field trip on Monday, November 16th. We need the permission slips returned by Monday. I think it will be a fun trip to Hyvee and then to Subway for lunch. The school blood drive is next Wednesday. If you can come and donate blood or know of someone who can donate, please return your appointment slip as soon as possible. Many of you have asked about bringing snacks. It is just about that time. I thought that we might have the parents of the boys send in snacks THIS time and parents of the girls send snacks in the NEXT time. That way our cabinet won’t get too full. A few suggestions: Gogurt, string cheese, apples, grapes, pretzels, cereal, stuff to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, crackers, etc.
Next Week:
Monday: Kindergarten field trip to Hyvee/Subway. Tuesday: No dress code day. Wednesday: Birthday day and SPPS Blood Drive 2-6pm. Midterm. Thursday: Pack for sleepover. Friday: Mass/ Sleepover, Show and Tell is the letter “I”. Thank you dinner 5-7pm.
God bless you and have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for brining in food for the food drive.
Pam Gambrell
