Mrs. Kayla Wilson

Born and raised right here in Nauvoo, Mrs. Wilson’s connection to Sts. Peter and Paul School began when she walked these very halls as a student. After earning her B.S. in Education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, her journey brought her back home. Now celebrating a decade of teaching in our building, she is an incredibly valued pillar of our upper elementary team. Married with two beautiful children, family is at the core of everything she does. In the classroom, Mrs. Wilson has a true gift for teaching our older students, consistently finding unique, engaging ways to challenge them to learn above and beyond the standard curriculum. Her ultimate goal is to nurture her 5th and 6th graders both academically and socially, ensuring they are confident and fully prepared to take on Junior High.

"Why do I teach at SPPS? Small class sizes, one to one technology, engaged parents, amazing students, top notch curriculum, and a supportive administration are all draws for any educator. However, that’s not my why. I am an alumni of SPPS and have so many fond memories of teachers, projects, Christmas programs, and other events that all in part shaped me to be who I am today. Now, being back as a teacher for 6 years, I have grown to understand the more profound element gained from SPPS that helps make me who I am, and that is my faith. All of the things that were instilled in me as a child at SPPS have come full circle, and now I help put Christ at the center of my students’ education. SPPS has deepened my faith to a measure far beyond where it would be if I taught somewhere else. We are all called to put Christ at the center of our lives, and Christ is truly at the center of SPPS. That’s my why."-- Mrs. Kayla Wilson
