All school families and parishioners from all our churches are invited to a meeting explaining the first proposal for the Hancock County Catholic Churches. That meeting will be on Wednesday evening, October 4, 7 p.m., at the Sts. Peter and Paul School Gym. This allows us the opportunity to: first, show our unity by all of us attending a single meeting; and second, to break into our individual church groups for reaction and discussion. For everyone: folks, this meeting ranks right up there with the Nauvoo LDS Visitor Center controversy, and the Illini West struggle with a location for a new high school. It's that important. And there is another meeting to follow next spring. Remember: this is a proposal presentation - not a decision presentation. Your thoughts will be most welcome!

Due to the continued high temperatures and heat indexes, SPPS has made the decision to close at 1:00 PM this Friday, August 25th as well. There will not be NC bus service in the afternoon. We again apologize for the inconvenience, however for the sake of the health and safety of our students and staff, this is the best call at this time. Thank you for your understanding and next week is looking to be better!

There will be morning Nauvoo Colusa bus service all week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday AFTERNOON Nauvoo Colusa transportation is still up in the air.

Due to the excessive heat predicted, SPPS will be closing early Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 1:00pm. We apologize for the inconvenience, however, the children’s safety is our number one priority. We are unsure if there will be Nauvoo Colusa bus transportation as they have yet to make a decision on early outs this week. Please plan on alternate transportation for your child if they utilize the public bus service. We will let you know if this changes. The SPPS bus will be running. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we deal with these heat index issues.

Due to the timing of the projected forecast, SPPS is closing at 12:30. We are erring on the side of caution because our students are from all over Hancock County and our bus drives very far. We apologize for the inconvenience but wanted to get the word out as soon as possible. There will be NO public bus service due to this decision. Thank you!

SPPS uniform and spirit shirts that were ordered before Christmas break are going home today IF they have been paid for. Students may show off our new SPIRIT shirts tomorrow! If they did not order one, they can also wear the old spirit shirts as well. If you have neither, students can wear uniforms.

We still have a lot of Cash Dash tickets to sell (approximately 30)! If your family has sold their Cash Dash ticket, they will get an out of dress code day this Thursday, December 8th. If you have any tickets out and are not going to sell them, PLEASE turn them back into the office. We have several tickets out and unsold. We do not have an abundance of extra tickets printed so please either sell them or turn them back in. Thank you for your support of SPPS!

Tomorrow is our monthly GPD dress code day. Typically we collect a dollar from students that is then donated to the GPD auction at the end of the year. This month we would like to do something a little different. As many of you know, we have been praying for Simon Bentzinger, a family member of one of our SPPS families that is fighting cancer. His golden birthday is coming up next month (13 on December 13th) Instead of donating to God’s Portion Day for an out of dress for day on Tuesday, we will be donating this money to get Simon a birthday gift from SPPS to hopefully brighten his days. Please bring one dollar or more on Tuesday for Simon and dress casual. We will be utilizing this money to purchase a gift card. If you would like to write a check, please make it out to SPPS and we will add it to the gift card total. Thank you for always supporting our SPPS families.
